Modifying LuxRender to model diffraction
At my job there are ongoing discussions about the possibilities of using rendering software to visualize the interaction effects between light and small scale surface structures. For this to be physically accurate, diffraction would have to be supported which would require information about the phase of the light rays to be incorporated in the render engine. I have been using LuxRender through Blender quite frequently during the last years, but when it comes to the possibilities of modifying the source code I feel a bit lost. That is the reason why I am starting this thread.
